The Scandinavian Heritage Society has several fun events every year. Please make plans to attend!

Annual Events

Laskianen celebration

February 25, 2012 - Beaumont Presbyterian Church - 6-9 pm

At Laskianen, we gather to celebrate Finland and partake of some fine pea soup. Please bring your favorite version of pea soup or other covered dish to share for the potluck dinner. Contact Eric and Libby Iverson for more details.

Annual Business Meeting

Date to be Determined

During the annual business meeting, official SHSK business for the year, such as the election of officers, will take place. There will also be a program and a potluck dinner. Please bring a covered dish to share.

Syttende Mai Celebration - 5-7 pm

May 12, 2012 - Immanuel Baptist Church Picnic Shelter

At this event, we celebrate Norway's day of independence. Please bring your own picnic dinner and dessert to share--we provide the ice cream. This is an outdoor event.

Swedish Midsommar

June 23, 2012

We celebrate Swedish Midsommar with a potluck dinner. Arrive at 4:00 to make traditional flower wreaths. Please bring a covered dish to share.

Fall Banquet

October 20, 2012 - Spindletop Hall - 6:30 p.m.

The fall banquet consists of a provided meal at Spindletop Hall (3414 Iron Works Pike, Lexington). A program will be given. Cocktails will be available starting at 6:30PM, with dinner beginning at 7:00. Payment must be made in advance. Please contact Jenny Berens for more information.

Lucia Fest

December 15, 2012 - Gethsemane Lutheran Church - 7:00 p.m.

The Lucia program is one of our favorites. A night of singing and fellowship finishes off the year in style. A potluck dinner is served after the event. Please bring a covered dish to share.

Rehearsal is Sunday, December 9 from 3-5 p.m. There will also be a final rehearsal before the proession at 5:00 on December 10. Rehearsals are mandatory!

Cardome Center Kite Festival

In previous years, we have had a booth on the kite festival grounds where we spread the word about our organization and share information about Scandinavian heritage.
