Hello, members and friends of the Scandinavian Heritage Society!

We received an email from Dr. Jack Nelson asking if we could help his former neighbor, a Swedish lady, with some reading material in Swedish or Norwegian. Here's the email:

**
My former neighbor, Ingrid Johannson, age 95, is now at Richmond Place for "assisted living." She is very alert and intelligent, but when she moved from her home of 61 years, her books and magazines in Swedish somehow disappeared. She is lost without them as she is a great reader. I have no way of finding what was lost but am writing to ask if your organization could find a way to help her. She is a lovely person and very much alive although now she spends most of her time in bed. Ingrid can read Norwegian also and especially loves re-reading the books she has loved all her life. She is a devout Christian and enjoys devotional material as well.

If you could help with this I would be most grateful. I am myself crippled and cannot manage to do a great deal for Ingrid, but if you need someone to transport material I could do that as I can still drive.

Richmond Place is in the telephone directory and is on Rio Dosa Drive at Man O War Drive. Ingrid's personal phone number is (859) 269-1122. She would enjoy visits from Swedish-speaking people. Her home in Sweden is in a town called Horred near Goteburg. She has a few relatives there but is no longer in touch with them; she has no relatives in the USA and only a few old friends in Lexington who help out as much as possible, but they are all Americans and of course do not speak Swedish.

I hope your organization will find this a worthwhile project that would be a great source of inspiration for Ingrid.

Sincerely,

Dr. Jack Nelson

So, does anyone have some books that they're willing to donate to this worthy cause, and/or would any Swedish-speaking members like the opportunity to visit with a 95-year old lady in assisted living? A little bit of your time could mean an awful lot to someone here!

Thanks!
